The Redcap is a rare English heritage breed from Derbyshire, named for the enormous rose comb that crowns the head of the male. Once common in northern England, they are now critically endangered. Excellent foragers and good layers of white eggs, they are a worthy conservation project for heritage breed enthusiasts who want a truly rare bird.
