1. Who We Are

FlockPlanner ("we", "us", "our") operates flockplanner.com — a free backyard chicken and poultry planning tool. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle data.

2. What We Collect

  • Usage data — anonymous analytics via Google Analytics (page views, general location, device type). This is not linked to your identity.
  • Email address — only if you voluntarily enter it to receive your personalized flock plan by email. Your email is sent to our email provider (Resend) to deliver the plan, and a notification of the plan (without your email) is sent to our internal Telegram channel so we know someone used the tool.
  • Breeders directory listings — if you voluntarily submit a listing (business name, street address, city, state, ZIP, and contact details), those details are stored in our database and shown publicly on the directory by design, so neighbors can find you. Listings are reviewed before being published.
  • Contact form — if you write to us, we receive your name, email address, and message via our email provider so we can reply.
  • No accounts, no passwords. FlockPlanner does not offer user accounts, and we do not collect passwords anywhere.
  • No payment data. We do not collect or store credit card or billing information. (Paid tiers, if introduced, would be processed entirely by Stripe.)

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To send you your personalized flock plan by email
  • To operate the breeders directory you asked to be part of
  • To reply to your questions and support requests
  • To improve the planner based on aggregate usage patterns
  • To measure site traffic and performance via Google Analytics

4. Cookies & Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements (when the site is approved to run ads). Google uses cookies to show ads based on your prior visits to our site and other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info or Google Ad Settings.

5. Affiliate Disclosure

FlockPlanner participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program that lets sites earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com. We earn a small commission on qualifying purchases made through our links at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the tool free. Affiliate links are clearly disclosed on the pages that contain them.

6. Third-Party Services (Processors)

We rely on the following services, each with its own privacy policy:

Images used on the site come from sources such as Wikimedia Commons (public-domain artworks, e.g., Melchior d'Hondecoeter's The Poultry Yard) and free-license photo sites (Pexels). We do not collect data from visitors to those pages.

7. Security

All traffic is served over HTTPS. Data is stored with reputable providers (Vercel, Supabase, Resend) that encrypt data in transit and at rest. We never store passwords or payment information. Breeders directory submissions are reviewed by a human before they are published.

8. Data Retention

  • Flock plan emails — we do not keep a database of plan emails; each plan is emailed and then the record is done. Email-provider logs are retained per Resend's policies.
  • Breeders listings — kept until you request removal or we remove an outdated/inactive listing.
  • Contact messages — kept until resolved, then as long as useful for support; you can ask us to delete them anytime.
  • Analytics — retained per Google's standard retention policies (up to 26 months).

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. To exercise these rights, email us at support@flockplanner.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" and we will respond within 30 days. To remove a breeders listing you submitted, use the same address and tell us the listing name.

10. Children's Privacy

FlockPlanner is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally as the site evolves. We will post the updated date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted here.
