The Sumatra is an ancient ornamental breed from the island of Sumatra, kept for centuries for cockfighting before becoming a show breed in the West. Their glossy blue-black plumage with a beetle-green sheen and long flowing tail makes them one of the most elegant chickens in the world. Independent and wild-natured, they are strictly for experienced keepers.
