The Penedesenca is a rare Catalan breed from Spain's Penedès wine region, prized for laying some of the darkest eggs of any Mediterranean breed — a deep reddish-brown rivaling the Marans. Their distinctive carnation comb with multiple points makes them immediately recognizable. Excellent foragers suited to warm, dry climates.
